2017, August 31

Pray for flat roads and tailwinds.

I've done some pretty epic things on the bike, today in my blog seems like as good a time as any to remind myself.

I'll probably have to sing my Dory song like I did throughout both Deathrides and my trek up Heleakala.

"Just Keep Pedaling......"

It's that simple right?

Pulling straight from my Deathride playlist..... Here's your song of the day.

Somebody Get Me a Doctor - Van Halen

2017, August 30

I should be strong on the bike by now, but..........

As of writing the blog, this is where highway 1 is closed.

Rub some grease on it.

Time to get serious.  Looking ahead this will be the first of 4 (near)centuries in 5 days.

This is where I'm going to have to embrace every part of this adventure.

It's going to get hard (if it hasn't already)

Song of the day (feel free to substitute walk with ride when you sing along)

Lot's of experience in and around Monterey.

Enough to know that we are probably staying up on the foothill and not down in town.

I think this may be one of my favorite cycling pictures.... Jenny eating like a boss.
I love riding my bike with you.

I think you were hot?

I knew you were hot.

Good times.
We weren't supposed to ride this part.  Remember?  But we wanted a lone cypress pic.

The path from Seaside to Monterey.  I should have been on it today.

I hope it's as nice as when we rode it.

Song of the day.

Sunshine on My Shoulders - John Denver

Remember how cool this concert was?  I sure wish I'd been awake.  Good times though for sure.

Cruz'in to Santa Cruz.

Not sure why, or when, but Aaron and I rode around down there.  So I actually have a little knowledge of the route into Santa Cruz.  I have a burrito recommendation from Kevin too, a place called Elizabeth's.  I remember a cool lighthouse and a marine observatory for whales.

Odd's on me looking like you guys post-burrito?

Johnny Flex and Breathe

Maybe more like this guy?

I'm probably feeling loose as a goose and getting my yoga on.

Found this old picture browsing, do think she remembers writing it?

More evidence that we've raised beautiful girls who are good loving people.

It think Sam's note is good reminder that you need to slow down and read the signs around you.

Here's one I found in Havasu, Arizona.  Wonder what cool ones I'll have seen by now?

Song of the day.

One Day - Matisyahu

Smile at me.

Now that you crushed Zwift mountain you should try a 50 miler on the London course

Okay, I'm just kidding, you can wear my Century jersey though for general badassness.

How stupid are my goals sometimes.

I'm excited to ride out of San Francisco today, we head to Half Moon Bay (yet another place I want us to explore).

A road I've never been on always evokes adventure.

Love you darling.

Song of the Day.

Good Life - One Republic

I picked your song today for one line of lyrics in the right in the middle.

"We have so much to feel good about"

Thank you for all you do for me, with me, too me ;)

We're getting ever so closer to our reunion.

Once upon a time there was this bad ass super hot wife...........................

Breakfast, Ice Cream, Snacks, Bottle of Wine, Pasta, and Zeppoli
My Badass Betty

It's my rest day, but I was hoping maybe you could pick up the slack for the team.

Give the Zwift - Mountain Course a crack.  See how far you can go before you crack.
If you've already tried it then I'm sure you'll probably just make it to the top.

The Watopia “Mountain Route” is simply a loop up to the highest point in Watopia (the radio tower climb) then back through the start/finish line.
Route details:
Distance: 18.3 miles
Elevation Gain: 2201′
I'll give you Strava kudos and a song of the day.

I love riding with you

Song of the day.

For the record "Once upon a time there was this bad ass super hot wife..........................."
doesn't identify when ;)

2017, August 25

Starting this morning on my way to San Francisco and
I will have pedaled 1,012 miles in 19 days, although 2 were rest days :)

Holy Crap!!!!

I'm pretty sure I will be sending you a photo from this viewpoint this morning.

I hope I'm not as chilly as you look in this picture.

Jennifer Bennett,
Motivational Speaker

Sure could use some of your tandem power about now.

I love this song, but the bonus is Matisyahu on the bike in the beginning, maybe I should take his lead and switch to a motorcycle.

Song of the Day.

A delirious Matisyahu biking at the beginning fits perfect.

2017, August 24

This is the approach I'm taking today.

83 Miles to the town of Olema.  I have a feeling it will be beautiful.

An area we haven't really explored.  I have a good feeling we will someday.

I'm going to try and tap into some of this today.

I know your rooting for me.  I picked this song because it just makes me feel good for some reason.

I first did the ride in 2012 and remember vividly descending through the fog down to the ocean.

I watched the video for month's at NSHE in my sad little cubicle to get excited about doing the ride with Brian in 2014.  We crushed it, although I was so wiped I couldn't eat the paella.

Stupid lyrics, fun song, great video.

Video/Song of the day.

Gualala?

I have no idea where the hell that is.

Funny to read the list of towns having no clue where I'll be, all I know keep the ocean to the right.

Hopefully they have showers.  I don't want to feel like this dirty lady.

Better read the normal blog tonight to find out, unless I can't get service.

Biggest day of the ride so far tomorrow (83 miles) game on.

Song of the Day + Lyrics

A fork in the road
No plan of action
Stuck in the middle and I've got no traction
Got no job but I'm educated
The travelled path's so overrated

Maybe I don't wanna go that route
And I don't care what you're talking about
Maybe I just want to go my own way

[Chorus:]

I don't wanna go that road
Breaking myself just to get a little closer
I don't wanna go that road
Breaking myself just to get a little closer

Shade from a tree and the ocean breeze
Not a care in my mind I'm exactly where I want to be
You tell me I'm lost and you tell me I'm wasted
I'll tell you dreams are the only thing in life worth chasing

[Chorus]

I never listen to the ones that say 'you'll never find means to an end that way'
The path twists and turns and breaks but the heart of the matter is you and maybe...
It might lead you to a cold dark place
Oh winds and the skies might rage
But as long as I'm living I know that I will always say...

[Chorus]

Today I'm getting a little cheeky.....

Just click past the content warning, you can handle it.

For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton

Hopefully your attracted to a little skinny biker dude when I'm done with this.

Not 236 Anymore.....

Here's your big surprise of the day.  It's safe to run, so click OK and run adobe flash.
Click expand for fullscreen.

Think the dog misses me?

My vote is no, but I'd bet he would like to play Frisbee with me.
The man of the house, just how he likes it.

I'm probably so slow by now I could ride any bike.

Traded my Trek for two burritos and this bike....

Do you think he's sitting on the stairs waiting for me to come home like he did when all three of you girls were away?

I have no clue where Redway is, but I'm hoping they have beaches.

It should fill my Instagram feed with some magic to share with everyone.  Love you all.

Song of the Day.

I hope I'm still embracing this songs theme at this point.

2017, August 20

Back in the saddle and heading toward Cooskie Mountain?  Maybe it's just Cooskie Hill?

It's probably a good time to start chanting this mantra.

If I can calculate correctly I am a little over halfway through the ride now.

Eagerly looking forward to one of these on a dark secluded beach.

I'm going to start my morning enjoying this picture.

Here's your song of the day.

Ordinary Girl - Rebelution

2017, August 19

If you were here I think rest day might look something like this.

I'll have the hammock for San Diego, be ready.

My girls are so pretty.

Couldn't pull of this pose by myself so I stole yours.

Song of the Day.

2017, August 18

Over the last eight days we've biked 461 miles according to the schedule.
A rest day tommorow (doesn't that sound deserved and exciting).

Pretty sure I have the process down now.
Maybe I could add a line for pack and unpack.

How do you suppose my tan lines look now?
With two more weeks in California?

Still stuck on Cisco, so you will have to be too..... Here's you song of the day.

2017, August 17

One the days I'm most looking forward to.

Biking through the Redwood National Forest.  I wonder if we will be camping by Hidden Trail.  That driftwood was so cool.

Getting close to beaches and burritos.

Your going to get a few of these.

No Alderto's to be found but I'm looking.

I have to add Cisco Adler as Song of the Day, he's so California.

Medicine - Cisco Adler

2017, August 16

Today we hit California.

I'm feeling the need to make you laugh.

Not sure where along the coast the bigfoot sightings are, but you would be pretty scary rolling up on my tent.

As I write, I need a kiss......  I anticipate I'd love one in Crescent City as well.  Many more to come.
Best be ready in San Diego, you won't get far from me I promise.

Song of the Day.

Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse

2017, September 6

I sure hope that we are reading this together today and I was successful in my epic journey or this blog won't be real fun to read. ...
